_ Three Things All Employers Are Looking For
In today’s competitive job market it is interesting that no matter what the industry, no matter what the job description all employers are looking for the same things. Let’s take a look at what employers are really looking for. 1. All employers look at what type of first impression you make and in today’s world this first impression may begin before you even enter the building. With the high tech cameras watching everything, your first impression can begin in the parking lot. Be careful not to do anything you do not want your future employer to see. The receptionist can also be a key person in deciding your employment future. Many times they are consulted on how the candidates act in the waiting room before the interview begins. You also need to dress appropriately—that means to dress one step above what the normal dress is for the position you are applying for. 2. Probably the most important thing all employers are looking for is—Dependability—will you be on time, punctual and reliable. Far too many employees take way too many days off- many become no call, no show employees. Employers do not care about your personal problems—they simply want someone who will come to work every day, on time and do the job they were hired for. 3. Lastly, employers are looking for skills, experience and training. Simply put-can you do the job you are applying for. Many employers are willing to train you in any areas you may be lacking, if your attitude is right. Know what your expectations are as far as salary, hours, etc. Employers can be very picky in today’s market. Remember it is better to have a job than be unemployed. It is not always the most qualified person who gets the job—it is the best job seeker! |
